  1. D. Bryant Flowers Says:

Mr. Dyson is undoubtedly more interested in the prestige, benefits, and income which he believes, I’m sure, he could not obtain at an HBCU.

  2. Doshon Farad Says:

I’m very thankful to Almighty God that Dr. Dyson is coming to Washington, D.C. As one who is an upcoming scholar and professor myself, I cannot wait to sit at his (Dyson’s) feet to be enlightened. I consider myself to be his student and pupil. I have known and listened to Dr. Dyson since I was a teenager. And each time I hear him it further motivates my desire to liberate the Black community through scholarship and academia. Georgetown University has been highley blessed and favor to have Dr. Michael Eric Dyson as a member of its distinguished faculty.

I was educated in Budapest, Hungary, Europe to receive MA in English Lanquage and Literature and to become a teacher. I think education of teachers has to change in Hungary too. My education took 5 years; in these years I gained knowledge of the English language but did not learn about classroom management at all! When I started teaching I knew what to teach but did not know “HOW”!

I have had the pleasure of being in Dyson’s classes while at the University of Pennsylvania. I guess one can’t fault him too much for moving to benefit his own career, but as a student who viewed him as a mentor it hurts that he would leave with such short notice and without any apparent regard for his Penn students, and for how important his presence was for African American students at Penn. I was scheduled to take his class in this fall, and he was one of the larger reasons I decided to come to Penn. His presence is surely missed.

  5. Claudia Says:

Wow what a great place to be Dyson in DC I know his students will miss him at Penn. But he is the type of men who needs to move around. Thats one part of his learning process and we all need to read his articles and books and check him out on the radio and TV. Most likely he will move again in the future oh well anyway don’t we all want him.
