  1. CJG in SC Says:

I wish Dr. Ammons and FAMU well in the financial foes that have been incurred and resolve the accreditation problems. It is concerning that Barney Bishop, who resigned after three frustrating years on the university\’s board of trustees and Steve Uhlfelder, Tallahassee attorney who has served on the board of governors that oversees the state\’s public universities, have so much too say now. Was Bishop a member of the board of trustees when Humphries was president? Was Uhlfelder on the board of governors when Humphries was president, if so someone didn\’t he do his job? According to Uhlfelder, Humphries was an imposing, well-connected figure who was adept in keeping critics at a distance.(this sound like something said by a very small man) That was his job. But let\’s be realistic, anyone knowing anything about HBCU\’s (especially state assisted ones) if it excels in an area- be it business, engineering, etc., there is always some entity trying to oversee , overtake or find wrong doing. Were Bishop and Uhlfelder part of the oversight boards that treated FAMU gingerly for years because they were concerning about being labeled racially insensitive. Oh, maybe this was during the Jed Bush years, and we all know how gingerly he was. A 1983 audit–delinquency rates on students repaying federal loans….and what else…. Well there is Gainous and Castell Bryant and her board who did extreme damage to FAMU.
