Grambling Investigating Pictures of Noose Lesson
GRAMBLING, La.
The Grambling State University president is investigating a case in which adults at the university-run elementary school on campus put a noose around at least one child’s neck and the school newspaper’s publication of photographs of it.

First of all, VERY high plaudits for the college president for taking such immediate, direct and professional action in limiting further damage to the the children, their families and the Grambling community that this whole dispicable mess has created.
Second of all, I hope he is a man of his word, and he fuuly investigates. Gives everyone due process, and takes appropriate, and if warranted, immdeiate and severe disciplinary action against the school staff that permitted this abomination, AND any newspaper staff that was involved in the publication of obscene image!
This is not about freedom of speech, this is about child abuse!!!
As a former counselor, social studies teacher, professor of education and Black Studies, diversity trainer and parent, I certainly endorse the introduction of the accurate protrayal of the Black, Native American, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, etc. cultures as part of the curriculum of public and private schools in the US.
However, ANYONE who calls themselves an ‘educator’ knows, or should know, the the first rule of thumb in teaching, ESPESCIALLY when teaching young, impressionable students, it that the materials used SHOULD ALWAYS be developmentally approprate for the students!
ALL cultures have achieved triumphs and suffered tragedies throughout American history. Some much, much more than others. That’s a documented and indisputable fact!
But would a conscientious Jewish teacher teaching children about the Holocaust, dare to force our children to participate/demonstrate the inhumane procedures used to exterminate millions of Jews by the Nazis?
Or would a conscientious Black Studies teacher teaching children about the Middle Passage, dare to force our children to participate/demonstrate the inhumane squalor, rape and murder of our ancestors stolen from Africa and shipped like cattle to the Americas?
HELL NO!!!
An Outraged and Very Angry Educator!

It seems as if the president of Grambling is more concerned with the student newspaper. He needs to be going after the idiotic teachers! Pre-schoolers and kindergarten?! C’mon, that type of visual lesson would have been better suited for older students. Nad if they wanted to demostrate, why didn’t they demonstrate on themselves?

I commend the newspaper for brining such a shocking image to the public’s attention. These doctorines are communicated verbally on HBCU campuses daily, it appears that the only way to put a stop to them is to act them out on children. Shame on everyone involved in the incident including the president of the university.
