Study Notes College-access Barriers Faced By Asian American Students
Despite the pervasive “model-minority” myth of overachieving Asian Americans easily getting into U.S. colleges and universities, a study at the University of California, Los Angeles has found that more Asian American students are facing problems in accessing higher education opportunities than ever before.

If schools would stop labeling them as “over-represented” a lot of their barriers to education would disappear.

I do not think it is helpful to lump the very different contries and cultures into a misleadinlgy homogenous label of ‘Asian’. At least in Australia, we find that students from Vietnam face very different circumstances from those from mainland China, which are significantly different again from Taiwan, Japan, the Phillipines, Indonesia, etc
