The United States of America is in the midst of waging an all-out global “War on Terror.” However, in this writer’s estimation, not enough attention is focused on America’s own homegrown, longstanding domestic terrorism: racial violence against African-Americans.

Readers could satrt with Jim Loewen’s “Lies My Teacher Told Me” and Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States” as well as his “Voices of A People’s History of the United States”.

While Dr. Reed is entitled to her opinion, she obviously doesn’t want any opinion published that doesn’t agree with her own. She seems to require suspension of the First amendment rights concerning free speech. Any opinions that are not to her liking will not be heard. Additionally, she demands that political correctness be taught to our children at an early age. Carried to its logical end, we would have a populace bland to the point of being extremely boring. While I don’t subscribe to ideas of racism or bigotry, a person must use their intellect to discern between what is right and what is wrong and not have it forced upon them by the government or by some government-approved watchdog group.

It is appalling. Right here in Montgomery, AL (birthplace of Civil Rights Movement) last month a prominent minister was murdered and you know what the evening’s news top story was - the continued search for the abuser of a pit bull, not the details of the minister’s murder or the search for the murderer.

The problem with prosecuting copycate noose-hangers is determing motivation and guilt. To date, a construction worker has admitted hanging nooses from the rearview mirror of his truck but says he did it as a Halloween decoration. He was suspended from work for 60 days even though his supervisors, coworkers and investigators are conviced he is telling the truth. The U.S. Army ended its investigation into a noose-hanging incident at Anniston Army Depot when it determined that the noose was a tie-down that had fallen off a truck delivering materiel to the installation. A noose found in a doctors’ break room at a hospital had turned out to be a piece of rope fashioned with a knot and a loop used to treat orthopedic patients. Pieces of string that “resemble” nooses are also being investigaged. Searing Google for images of hangman nooses produces more than 30,000 photos, sketches and etchings, including movie posters for Clint Eastwood’s “Hang ‘em High.” Obviously the young billionaires who own Google are racists. The Justic Department should also investingate the editors and publishers of Halloween Magazine. They post images of nooses and instruction on tying hangman knotts one their website at www.halloweenmagazine.com.

I agree wholeheartedly with almost all of this article. What troubles me is the author’s call for draconian penalties for those convicted of hate crimes AND SPEECH. I don’t want to sign away our First Amendment rights though certainly hateful people committing hateful acts have hidden behind this noble Amendment. My real concern is that history has shown a propensity for the laws that the oppresses struggle and sacrifice to get passed end up being used against the victims/survivors who sought to pass them. For example some of my expression of pain and resentment for certain oppressors in my social activism Spoken Word poetry may be described by sinister minds as hate speech against the oppressors. I’d hate to get arrested at the next show I do as protest poets in Pakistan, some Latin American countries, some African countries and former Soviet Union/Russian (among other places) have long experienced!

According to the US Government and the University of Massachutches, more blacks were killed by other blacks in 2005 alone than were killed by all the racist lynch mobs in the entire US history combined! About 4000 blacks were killed in lynchings. At least 8000 blacks were killed in 2005 alone, and at least 93% of their murderers were black. That’s 7,440 blacks killed by other blacks in ONLY ONE YEAR. Thus it stands to reason that the real threat to black people is not racist lynchings or racist whites, but black people themselves.

Much has been made about the percieved threat that blacks feel from whites regarding noose-hangings lately.
What do you make of these following facts? This comes from “The History of Lynching In The United States”, a class at The University of Massachusetts.

In light of the recent “Jena 6″ situation, and the threat that black people have claimed to feel from whites because of it, what do you think about the fact that more black people were murdered by other black people (7,440 people, which is 93% of 8,000) in one year alone, 2005, than were murdered by all the white lynch mobs during the 48 years of 1882 through 1930 combined (about 2,500 people)?
This means that, in only one year, blacks killed almost 3 times the number of blacks than were killed by all the white lynch mobs during the 48 “peak-lynching years” combined!
Therefore, it stands to reason that the real, most dangerous threat to black people these days is not from racist white people or lynchings, but from black people themselves.

By “diversity”, do you mean that you recognize that racial differences exist, like for example a difference in levels of criminality, or a difference in IQ levels, like Dr. James Watson, the brilliant DNA scientist said? Is that the kind of “diversity” you mean?
It’s funny how you “diversity” advocating black people always try to discredit IQ tests, which always show that blacks are less intelligent than all other races, but then you turn right around and try to use that same tested IQ level to save some black murderer from being executed.

For those who belittle the emphasis of nooses in society, you know the context in which it is intended. Most people aren’t ignorant to believe, for example that a noose hung on the door of a beautiful African American professor was done for the purpose of assisting her in some medical way….i.e. orthopedic knot, go figure, Blair. Obviously, the writer has hit the head right on the head. People with hate…..get a life and stop interfering with the rest of the sane world……

While addressing the “buffoons” that has responded to you eloquently written article, I wanted to commend you. Your article has given the true educators of diversity a prospective to redirect our energies. Diversity training (as evident in the responses) must be mandatory at the earliest school grade possible. Had your critics had diversity training and cultural competence training in their early years of school, perhaps they would have at least finished high school and true productive citizens and not uneducated hate mongers.

Umm Gracie, I may be wrong but I don’t think that cramming even more PC programming down our collective gullets is going to change anything. It’s not like anyone under the age of 30 hasn’t been extensively exposed to it. I also think you will find that a lot of people started off wanting to believe the best, but harsh reality has slapped them in the face repeatedly. I’m not going to say that white racism is never a problem or that there isn’t a pronounced police bias against blacks (mostly due to the unjust war on drugs). They just aren’t the biggest problems, not by a long shot. All this focus on nooses is a red matador’s cape distracting the black community from some very real and serious problems that only they can solve–the main root cause being the replacement of the black father with a welfare check, since the mid 60’s, as Thomas Sowell and others have pointed out.

If the media would stop sturing up racial hatered our society would finally recover from something that happen over one hundred years ago. I work with an Aferican American that says if he were President, the first thing he would do is have everyone call each other, Nigger. That would take the sting right out of it. He said Nigger is a good word. I doubt seriously that the media would ever let that happen because it would kill their favorite buzz word. Excellent and thoughtful piece. 2 Quick Points: 1) It minimizes the serious nature of these noose incidents to call them “copy cat” crimes. Copy cat crimes are just that: crimes. Hate crimes, to be exact. Should people who “copy cat” Columbine- or Virginia Tech-type school shootings or other such heinous acts not be tried as the criminals that they are? 2) I think the last thing Dr. Reed is suggesting is that freedom of speech, which is a constitutionally-endowed and sacrosanct American right, be trampled upon. Of course, people are free to say or write whatever they feel. When people cross the line and make vile, racist, and hateful comments- such as many of the ones posted here- they should be tried in the court of public opinion. I think her point is…well, on-point.

The most important thing, from your article, to me is:

But that will be GREAT not only for Americans, but for the all world. With globalization, American values are inside every home in every corner of the globe, because we are living an “Imitation of life”, following wrong values, because Human Race is diverse.
I was visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art last July. I was lucky that they have a huge exhibit on William H. Johnson. I never go with the guided tours, but I wanted to learn more…
I will tell you how it was: In front of a colorful painting of three musicians, this man said: “They are not beggars, do you understand?, They are musicians, no beggars. They are not playing music in the street, begging, he just painted musicians.”
He insisted three times, so I have to ask: Sir, I can see three musicians, if they were white, would you explain to us the obvious, that they are not beggars?
Education is the magic key, but education begins at home…

1. I have never seen anything ever published anywhere that proves that diversity is a strength or a wonderful thing. No proof has ever been offered for this. Why is that? Why should we believe this?

“Diversity Training” is nothing more than indoctrination. America should not brainwash it’s citizens with “political correctness”. America should be the Land of Free Speech not “PC Speech”. The “liberals” are the exact opposite of everything they claim to be. They claim to be for free speech but label as “hate speech” any speech that they oppose. Even worse, they have made laws to outlaw real free speech. They cannot argue rationally so they resort to name calling; such as “racist”, “bigot”, and “prejudiced”. These names do not hurt me anymore. “Liberals” preach love but are filled with hate; especially toward whites and white males. The only authorized jokes are about “rednecks” (white males) and blonds ( white females). Liberals, who lack the capacity for independent thought, have been indoctrinated and like good cult members want all the rest of the people to cast their brains away and become indoctrinated.
Diversity Training has to be forced on people because the “liberals” cannot think up any rational arguments for it. But many people are beginning to see the light through the “liberal” sham of Cultural Marxism and racial hatred of whites.

These post only prove my point about training minds to be culturally competent early on. Education is an excellent tool to use when logically conversing with others on subjects that we sometimes don\’t agree. Fear tactics and harsh statements are only used by the powerless. Powerfully educated people don\’t respond like the cowards that are using the psuedo names as it is obvious in the previous post. What a life to live when it comes to denegrating others to make yourself look good. But really does it? Unless someone chooses freely to be blind, everybody can see that the world is DIVERSE. Ignorance is not an excuse anymore, because TV and Internet brings a view of the world to every home (in the USA 250 million already with Internet in 2004).
Diversity training is NOT brainwash, but, to understand that there are other cultures out there and inside the States with the some value (is not only a Eurocentric measurement of everything, even though still the hegemonic one…)

Hey M. Toledo, African blacks captured other blacks from the interior of Africa and marched them to the port cities. Whites did not go into the interior of Africa to capture slaves. Before Whites started buying slaves most Black men were killed shortly after capture and they just kept the women and children. And in case you didn’t know Jews, Whites and most other races have also been slaves at one time or another. However it is only the Blacks that keep whining about this. Why is that?

Dr. Reed is once again on point for this discussion at the crucial time in our society. While we all sit around our kitchen table discussing the social and political issues of the world, we must not forget that the political powers of our country determine the attitudes that comes from those who contain racial hatred and reserve it for anonmynmous posting on websites such as this one. If the country was fairly treating all members, including those people who have not benefitted from the very political system they have supported, then we can continue to see and hear the rabid responses to the truth. Sight unseen, we can assume that the negative posters are those who support a political class they aspire to be and most likely is the very one we see driving down the road in a 20 year old smoking pickup truck with a “Bush” sticker glaring through to the driver behind them.

Dr. Reed, I truly “feel” you on what you are saying and trying to accomplish and I agree with you in spirit. However my lived experience questions the concept of “diversity” in a rhetorical culture. (I hope I don’t have to defend that statement).
I ask, at what point does this idea of “diversity” accomplish its mission? Does it accomplish it when power is shared? Is the idea of “diversity” limited? Does it mean “diversity” in selected venues reserved for the masses? From my understanding of history, since the current power structure has been in place, only certain members of a culture can marry into power therefore share it. Will England’s “royal family” diverse? What about wealthy European Jews, Italians, Germans or French? Will they allow their daughters to marry and sire half African children?
Diversity, taken to its conclusion, would mean that power institutions be shifted. It would mean that the current power structure would no longer exist. Do you think they would champion their own destruction?
In 1964 another “civil rights” legislation bill was signed into law. Since that time it can be argued that we are further from civil parity. From that we should have learned you can’t legislate morality. Diversity is a moral issue. How does a rhetorical culture deal with moral issues that attach their power base?
My last point is that why must we try to “force” people to accept us? It should be a natural human event. African cultures don’t deal with “diversity” as does the European, nor does Asian. They are not based on some idea of race within their own societies. Dr. Reed, are you American? If the European doesn’t want to be “American,” why should we force them? Again, you can’t legislate morality.
I’m not hateful. I believe that people should feel comfortable with themselves and with their family and friends. We shouldn’t impose beliefs on them and “diversity” is a belief system. I don’t know the answer as to how we can co-exist in America. Maybe we can’t and Blacks should leave. I just know that something must be done and soon because Blacks are not fairing well at all in America.

Africa before the white man was a continent with its own world view. Why must people live and think like the European? Haiti is Haiti because the French, with the help of the other Europeans who control presently control the world’s purse strings, will never let it forget that it rebelled, and won, against colonial rule or white power. This is the same in Zimbabwe and any non Euro (and Euro if it gets too independent from the present monied elite) country that challenges the power structure or cultural hegemony.

BUKAVU, Congo — Denis Mukwege, a Congolese gynecologist, cannot bear to listen to the stories his patients tell him anymore.
Every day, 10 new women and girls who have been raped show up at his hospital. Many have been so sadistically attacked from the inside out, butchered by bayonets and assaulted with chunks of wood, that their reproductive and digestive systems are beyond repair.
“We don’t know why these rapes are happening, but one thing is clear,” said Dr. Mukwege, who works in South Kivu Province, the epicenter of Congo’s rape epidemic. “They are done to destroy women.”
Eastern Congo is going through another one of its convulsions of violence, and this time it seems that women are being systematically attacked on a scale never before seen here. According to the United Nations, 27,000 sexual assaults were reported in 2006 in South Kivu Province alone, and that may be just a fraction of the total number across the country.
“The sexual violence in Congo is the worst in the world,” said John Holmes, the United Nations under secretary general for humanitarian affairs. “The sheer numbers, the wholesale brutality, the culture of impunity — it’s appalling.”

‘Miracle’ fuel that made a mockery of Mugabe
When Nomatter Tagarira, a spirit medium, claimed that she could conjure refined diesel out of a rock by striking it with her staff, ministers in Robert Mugabe’s Government believed that they might have found the solution to Zimbabwe’s perennial fuel shortage.
After witnessing her apparently miraculous gift they gave her five billion Zimbabwean dollars in cash (worth £1.7 million at the start of the year but now worth one seven-hundredth of that) in return for the fuel. Ms Tagarira was also given a farm, said to have been seized from its white owner during Mr Mugabe’s lawless land grab, as well as food and services that included a round-the-clock armed guard on the rock in the district of Chinhoyi 60 miles (100km) from Harare, the capital.
More than a year later officials realised they had been duped. Ms Tagarira is now in custody, awaiting trial on charges of fraud or, alternatively, of being “a criminal nuisance”. Details from court papers published this week said that over 15 months, until July this year, Ms Tagarira convinced Cabinet ministers, ruling party heavy-weights and top army and police officers that by striking the rock with her staff she could produce enough fuel to supply the country for 100 years.

CAIRO (AFP) — Egyptian antiquities supremo Zahi Hawass insisted Tuesday that Tutankhamun was not black despite calls by US black activists to recognise the boy king’s dark skin colour.
“Tutankhamun was not black, and the portrayal of ancient Egyptian civilisation as black has no element of truth to it,” Hawass told reporters.
“Egyptians are not Arabs and are not Africans despite the fact that Egypt is in Africa,” he said, quoted by the official MENA news agency.
Hawass said he was responding to several demonstrations in Philadelphia after a lecture he gave there on September 6 where he defended his theory.
Protestors also claimed images of King Tut were altered to show him with lighter skin at the “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” exhibit which leaves Philadelphia for London on September 30.
The exhibition sparked an uproar when it kicked off in Los Angeles in June 2005 when black activists demanded that a bust of the boy king be removed because the statue portrays him as white.

More than 600 females are raped daily, a new report shows.
The report, compiled by Gender Violence Recovery Centre (GVRC), indicates that the youngest rape survivor is five-months-old while the oldest is 86.
The statistics, which have been compiled in hospitals and community-based organisations where the victims go for treatment and counselling, approximate that there are at least 16,482 rape cases every year.
Reported cases of assault and battery in the country have also increased from 6,255 to 9,169 while a third of adolescent girls’ first sexual experience is coerced, Health Policy Initiative Kenya adds.
The girls, who end up married at a tender age, report of power inequality in these relationships.
The risk of violence and sexual abuse is high among girls who are orphaned by Aids, many of whom face a heightened sense of hopelessness.
Most of the reported cases of rape are coupled with severe physical injury like excessive bleeding, strangulation and swollen faces.
The report also shows that incest contributes to the high number of rape victims while minors between the ages of one month to eight years are the highest targets. These cases are still rampant despite implementation of the Sexual Offences Act.
Of the 717 reported sexual abuse cases, 43.5 per cent involved are girls between the ages of one month to four years, while 33.2 per cent are aged between five and eight.

Its astonishing that even after Al Sharpton was exposed in race bait scams like the Tawana Brawley scam and the Nifong scam the dems/media still ply their race bait tactics with Sharpton like they are doing again with the “Jena Six.”. Its been all over the newspapers, CNN, AP, Headline News, about the alleged “race problem in Jena, La.” Career race baiter Al Sharpton, the democrat controlled media, and some other professional race baiters like Jesse Jackson protested in Jena along with thousands of agitators they bussed into Jena. When a Sharpton mob shows up with the media, they are there to inflame hate and bait blacks into voting democrat. The democrat controlled media glamorizes race baiter Sharpton so dems can use Sharpton later to bring in black votes for white democrats in key elections. The upcoming presidential election has got dems into nifong race baiting mode to maximize black votes. The dem controlled news media will report racism epidemics on cue for the 2008 election to get the black vote.
To be consistent, protesters for the 6 black boys who beat up the white boy in Jena, must also protest to help OJ Simpson. Expect the media to lighten up on OJ, at least until after the upcoming presidential race. Its bizarre how much hatred the media has generated about the “Jena Six.” What actually happened in Jena has no resemblance to the media spin on it. Researching what actually happened at Jena shows the media simply created more race bait like the nifong media created with the Duke lacrosse players. As the presidential election gets closer, the democrat controlled media inflames hate and race baits more and more, in order to get democrats elected, like how democrat Nifong got elected.

The combination of Sharpton and the media with democrat politician Nifong exuded the sickening smell of race bait; think Tawana Brawley. Nifong and Sharpton are the essence of the Democrat party. Hillary is a nifong, Al Sharpton is a nifong, Ted Kennedy is a nifong; spread it around. The democrat party is the Nifong Party - Race Bait Party. The word democrat is interchangeable with nifong. And of course the media is controlled by nifong democrats. The nifong media is doing all they can to silence the Duke scam because it exposes the nifong party for what it is. But lets keep the light shining on this demonrat darkness. If the publicans let the dems get away with this they deserve to continue suffering the race baiting tactics of the dems.
The media such as CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, AP are all trying to tell us we are tired of hearing about Nifong, that Nifong has suffered enough; any lame excuse they can imagine to hush up or distort the Nifong story. The democrat controlled media wants to silence the Nifong news because it exposes what the nifong party is. Nifong embodies democrat tactics, but if it wasn’t for evil Al Sharpton with the democrat media circus, Nifong may never have gotten up courage enough to attempt the Duke scam. With the media, Sharpton, and the dems backing him, Nifong was emboldened. Now that Nifong got caught, the media wants it hushed up. The dems/nifongs want to talk about something else, anything to take public attention away from Nifong. Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and such non-news is used to focus attention away from the real news of how the demonrat party is the race bait party/nifong party; regardless of how trivial the non-news gets.
It speaks volumes how the media is so eerily silent on the Juneteenth news; blacks dragging non blacks out of their cars and killing and/or beating them to celebrate Juneteenth in Minnesota, Texas, New York and who knows where else. The dem controlled media wants to hush it up because it doesn’t promote the demonrat hate and race bait politics and stereotypes of discrimination by whites against blacks. Imagine the uproar in the media, on the news, the 24/7 coverage, if gangs of whites pulled black people out of their cars and beat them to death. Imagine even more media coverage than that if the Duke scam had been black men and a white girl falsely accusing the black men. The nifong media covers up and hushes up even the biggest news when it doesn’t fit the nifong political needs. Anytime we see the sick old media/democrat pattern of ranting about white racists we realize its just more nifong lies.
If average non-democrat white people commit a fraction of the race bait scams against black people like Sharpton, the media, and Tawana Brawley committed against whites, or like Sharpton and the media played Crystal Mangum against the Duke players, those white people suffer greatly. Among other things, they are charged with hate crimes, false police reports, civil rights violations, and conspiracy to commit fraud. They are tormented by the media also. Yet career race baiter Sharpton along with his media accomplices have been getting away with it since at least as far back as the sleazy Tawana Brawley scam of the 1980s. For the media, dems, Sharpton, nifongs to be this desperate to find white racists just shows how hard it is for them to find whites actually guilty of real racial crimes. Since they couldn’t find any real white racists they tried to create some as in the cases of Tawana Brawley, Crystal Meth Mangum, and Nifong.
If the publicans allow themselves to continue being victimized and painted as racists by such despicable creeps as Nifong, Sharpton, and their democrat media friends, then the pubs are missing some great opportunities to expose race baiting dems and media creeps like those behind the Duke scam. It might help slightly if the slandered lacrosse players sued Sharpton and his media accomplices, but only prominent pubs in high office have any real power to stop the hate and race bait schemes of the nifong democrats.
This Lawyer Nifong who persecuted the Duke lacrosse players makes us wonder how many people who didn’t have high priced lawyers defending them have ended up in prison though innocent of the charges. The population was largely black, it looked like it would be a close election, so Nifong used the white Duke players as race bait to lure black voters into voting for him and got elected at the expense of the innocent white men. The reason Nifong charged the white men was to gain black votes in the election that was coming. Interesting how desperately the media tries to avoid reporting it. This was a tragic rush to race bait instead of a tragic rush to accuse or a rush to judgment. Look news media, lets see at least half the 5 years of non-stop coverage we get if its black men being falsely accused instead of white men.
The Duke lacrosse scam is just one more example of fake racism from the dems and media. The dems and media desperately continue to fan the flames of hate and racism in order to get the black vote just as Nifong did. The dems and media have been race baiting like this since the days of John Kennedy in the 1960s. The dems show no sign of stopping their hate and race bait tactics of pitting blacks against whites as democrat Nifong did in order to gain the black vote. Racism shams and phony news reports of racism is a classic strategy for white democrats to get black votes, so expect more such news as the upcoming presidential race heats up.
Instead of following the proven method of victimizing poor white men who couldn’t afford big money lawyers to defend themselves, Nifong made the mistake of attacking wealthy white men who had access to some of the best legal services. In this case the big money lawyers eventually got the race bait charges dropped. Nifong may or may not get away with his race bait democrat tactics. For every guilty creep who goes to prison there are about fifty to 100 who go free by one rule of thumb. How many other innocent people were fired or imprisoned or their lives were ruined by corrupt democrats plying their evil race bait politics like democrat Nifong did?

Of course there were crimes committed from people from all races, to point it out as an argument to show wich race committed more… Are we going to accomplish something with that?
But in America today and in the Americas too, there is a Eurocentric view imposed through education. Diversity (someone call it indoctrination in this forum) is to ACCEPT that there are many different people that came to this continent (by their own will or forced) but the fact is that we are all living in a Diverse society.
The saddest thing to me is not what politicians do, but the lack of empathy and the hate in many of the comments, from regular citizens (I assume)that probably may have religious believes, and even go to church, to pray to God, the creator of the Human Race.

Toledo let me expand on what I was saying.. Diversity is like integration. The long and short of it is I don’t care if I am able to stay in the same hotel with white folks; I’m interested in the amenities. I want the same sanitary conditions from the black fountain as the white and if it’s not present, I will use the white drinking fountain.
So goes “diversity.” I don’t care if the person who manage the bank looks Asian, Indian, African or Spanish.. I want the same amenities and the same consideration as those who own it..white folks.
