Texas Southern, Southern University, we seem to be shooting ourselves in the foot. We are giving those who want to take control of our institutions ample reason to do so with our perceived inability to govern ourselves.
We must get away from the idea of thinking that we are entitled to certain privileges just because we hold a high position, or have some degree of financial stability. Our leaders must be held to a higher standard, even though we know they are human, and have human frailties, they must not succumb to the everyday temptations that the rest of us fall prey to. A true leader must have high character, integrity, and moral turpitude. Without those qualities we have people playing games with us, taking advantage of us.
Let’s hope we as a people start taking the high ground when it comes to selecting our leaders.

In 2003, I filed a similar lawsuit in federal court against Southern University on behalf of five females who were employees and students of Southern University in Shreveport. The situation in the Southern system is at a crisis and power needs to be put in check. As Vice-chancellor for Student Affairs, I had many cases of sexual harrassment, sex for grades and promotion, unwelcome comments by male directors, chief of police, vice-chancellor, teachers, etc. You name it and it was done throughout the system. I spoke out and was black listed from the job market for three years. People of character MUST rise up!
