How UCLA’s Black Enrollment Rebounded

Community leaders and Black alumni stepped up to help boost Black enrollment at the University of California, Los Angeles this year. The number of Black students who said they plan to enroll as freshmen in the fall doubled from 103 to 203, bringing the percentage of Black UCLA freshmen to 4.5 percent, up from 2.2 percent a year ago.

This effort in Los Angeles sounds like a wonderful example of what the community can do when it dedides to use its combined efforts on behalf of its children. Congratulations.

Black people have better wake up. 4.5 % is nothing!!!!!

Maybe Schools in the Black Communities should try something new. One method that helped my son was the stock market. His High School math professor who was a former Bank President taught the principles of the stock market, reading the fundamentals, balance sheets etc. Use the analysis , pick a stock and then follow it. My Son was always your typical lazy student. In his Freshman Spring semester in College he finally started taking business classes. He became as interested in Business as a VIDEO GAME. Now he’s tranferred into the U of Virgina Business school with a 3.8 GPA. Virigina’s business school African-American enrollment is 3%. He loves it, he says he wants a 4.0 then go to Penn’s Wharton.

So Black folks, IT CAN BE DONE!
