It is indeed diffucult to raise funds at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It is diificult because of the lack of unrestricted funds to use to support fundraising efforts. I certainly surmise that was one of the driving forces behind creating the UNCF’s Institute for Capacity Building.
Many private HBCU’s have engineered successful campigns over the years.
It has now become critical for public HBCUs to generate additional resources via fundraising efforts.
It will take a concerted effort of all the friends of the university to be successful in reaching designated goals, i.e., alumni, faculty, staff, students, corporate community and the local community.
