I have given many workshops and presentations regarding the history and ramifications of Indian boarding schools in the United States, yet I am happy to see that a skilled researcher has documented the importance of sexual and substance abuse impacts on the Native community. With your permission, we would like to redistribute your article on our website as a resource for the community. Please feel free to contact our office for support in the Southern California region.

Please check out the “Salt Song Project” on line and respond. I’ll inform you as to what the Southern Paiute “Salt Singers” have done at two different Boarding Schools for the children that were not returned to their respective reservations. I will be glad to talk to you.

Wow! This is so horrible, I think this should definitely be brought to the main stream attention. The U.S. government should be held accountable just as they want their “terrorists” of today to be held responsible and as the Nazis of the past. I didn’t it was so extensive and went on into the 70’s and 80’s.

I agree with Nikishna, it is important to face the monster and not allow to grow and transcend onto our children and children’s children, otherwise how will we ever have a bright and better future? However we must not allow history to repeat itself to any race, ethnicity, or nationality as we are one earth and one people. We are one race, the human race. My thoughts as a mother of nine.

In day boarding schools the students can spend their night with parents and the next day they can come to the school for read. The students of boarding schools get a lot of achievements in their life.
