This is hardly an achievement given the degree of preferential treatement minorities receive from the day they are fresmen to the day they graduate. The headline should read “Report: Affirmative Action Programs Helping Minority Students Get PHD’s in Social Work and Other Lesser-Valued Fields.” When this same proportion of students receive degrees in STEM fields without any preferential treatment we will have a cause to celebrate.
