HBCU Students Head to South Carolina to Help Obama
Early on, the presidential campaigns of Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were dividing Black Democrats across the country, but students on Black college campuses are unifying in support of Obama.

“I think that both sides are excited about the opportunity to vote for either a female or a Black male.”
It’s a good thing we are letting race or gender preferences cloud our judgment. To be fair, we should also be encouraging whites and males to vote for whites and males. We wouldn’t want to grant disproportionate preference now would we? It must be hard for students choosing between Hillary’s “experience” and Obama’s “change” as dismal as those criteria are. We should also take into account the diversity of religions on the Republican side: Catholic, Evangelical and Mormon. In my opinion, religion plays a much larger role in the diversity of the nation than skin pigmentation or genitalia. Maybe students should be taught to discriminate based on religion as well as skin color and gender, then we would have the utopia HBCU’s strive for.

Disproportionate preference has been the norm in this country since day one thanks to racism and sexism. Or has it just been coincidence that all of the previous presidents of the US have been white, Christian, men? and, white men have been voting for other white men for quite a while…
Yes, 3 Christian religions represent religious diversity. Give me a break. If you are going to be this blog’s racist, sexist troll, it would be nice if you could at least come up with cogent arguments instead of perpetuating racist, sexist rhetoric.

Eric, if you actually read what I posted you would see that I don’t believe in using race or sex as a criteria for choosing a president. I was poking fun at those who do. It appears as though you think that because the majority of the politicians have received the majority of their votes from the people who make up the majority of the country (women have also been known to vote for White males) that there is something wrong with the system. Perhaps that White males voted for White males. The fact that women and Blacks have a woman and a Black to vote for is the point this article is celebrating. Frankly, I don’t see the difference between Blacks being encouraged to vote for Obama, women being encouraged to vote for Hillary and White males being told to vote for a White male.
