Where Do Presidential Candidates Stand on The DREAM Act?
As the presidential race heats up, a segment of the non-voting population as well as voters on both sides of the debate to help undocumented students access college will be watching to see where the candidates stand on the DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act).

The Dream Act is a critical piece of legislation that will provide many students withe the opportunity to succeed in life. I know that immigration is a emotionally driven debate, however, we all need to find a common consensus on how to solve this issue, just as President Bush asked congress tonight in the State of the Union speech.

This should be a critical issue in the presidential elections and I hope that the media and candidates push it to the forefront. This is not an emotional issue, it is a matter of enforcing the laws and the will of the people. It is a matter of the economy and a matter of American culture and English language. The American people do not want amnesty or benefits for illegal immigrants, we want them to leave.

I have differing views on this subject.
I believe that if a state allows people to live in the state illegally and turns a blind eye to the law, that state is taking on the responsibility for those people it harbors illegally. So the State where these people live should be willing to offer in-state tuition.
This does not mean the Federal Government is responsible for the State not doing their job. So let the state pay for their mistake and pay for the illegals to be educated.
On the other hand the Federal Government often refuses to pick up illegals and deport them. So you have this quandry. Still the states that choose to be blind to this problem are the problem. They have artificially created a people, with a lower illegal classification, that they use as slave labor for business and profit.
All of this is just plain illegal. The Federal Government should ask for the return of all federal funds from any school violating federal guidelines and cut off all federal aid to their students.
It is time for public officials to enforce the laws that they swore to uphold. The rights of the Citizens should be more important than the rights of the illegals.

So Mike Huckabee is the ONLY presidential candidate with the courage to take the position doubtlessly held by the silent majority in America today and openly oppose subsidizing criminal activity. The “politically correct” mindset espoused by virtually all politicos today shames the American culture and heritage of honesty, virtue, and courage.

As an immigrant student and a soon to be senior.. I am face with the harsh reality of not being able to attend college.. I have done everything right since I was brought here 8 yrs ago.. High honor roll student, sports, and now being accepted to national honor society….
The DREAM ACT would not only help me but other students in my position, attend and possible work for the american dream our parents have engrave in our upbringing… I just wish the candidates would give us that insure, this act would soon be a reality for many students….it would not only benefit us, but also this country for we would contribute to the economy even more…
