U.S. Sen. Barack Obama detailed a plan to strengthen community colleges, including making community college free for some Americans, during a campaign stop Saturday in central Wisconsin.

There are no limits to the amount of money Barack thinks he can spend. Is anyone keeping tabs on the actual dollars he has promised the general public he will freely give them? I hate to break it to him and his followers but taxing the rich and the evil corporations isn’t going to cover his promises of federally funded health care and educational entitlements.
I’m familiar with community colleges having attended one and let me tell you, they have always been a bargain. They are by far the best education per dollar students can get. I understand why some want to make them free to students but what is forgotten is that they are designed to work around a working person’s schedule. Also, as an employer I can’t tell you how much more valuable a student is who had even a part time job during college. The more entitlements we hand to college students, the more they expect to get from working and the less they plan to contribute. The desire to help people in need is admirable but the reality is that work ethic outside of the classroom is just as important as work ethic inside the classroom.
