Researchers at Odds Over Tuskegee Study

The infamous Tuskegee Syphilis Study, a government experiment that charted the effects of the untreated disease on mostly poor and uneducated Black men, was conducted for 40 years before it was exposed and ended in 1972 amid widespread condemnation.

    I don’t think that a large number of Black people have to know the particulars of this “crime” to be leary not just of participating in medical trials but of the medical industry as a whole. All they need to know, expereicne first hand, or witness are the prevasive, and some might argue persistent white supremist attitudes that led some to believe that it was OK to treat or withhold treating these folks in an inhumane fashion.
