Wow!! What a story!! This reading truly denotes the positively life altering impact Call Me MISTER is making in the classroom. As an African American male teacher and fellow Call Me MISTER colleague of these gentlemen, I can attest that our impact in the classrooms are “producing crops of unprecedented success” as we multiply ourselves in the lives of these children that can become society’s next heroes instead of society’s next villains!
The Lord bless you young men men!!

I love the idea. It is powerful. I feel a kin to it because a similar program helped me become a teacher in the late 70s. It really works and my son is interested.

I heard about this program a year or so ago, and I was delighted to read such positive stories about the program. As an African American Male that attended High School in an inner city school district that also dealt with low SES ( Social Economic Status), there is a great need for programs such as this across the country. Many of our youth don’t know what it’s like to have someone that looks like you at the head of the class. And Educators across the country should know that before a African American Male teacher opens up his mouth, change is already taking place. Not just with our African American Youth, but with all our youth, other teachers in that school, in the community, and yes with the parents. And change is what many of our inner city communities and our youth need. They don’t see themselves as educators, because that haven’t had an African American male or female teacher. And I don’t want my comments to be read and interpreted with this being good just for our Diverse students, because this program can and will change the hearts and minds of white students as well.
I have taken this idea to my Dean and my hope is to try something simular to attract more African Americam Males and Females to the field of education. And if we all take a few steps we can change THE WORLD!!!!!!

There’s a friend of my son, who was in USC an just found out he was not going to be able to return this fall, as a matter of fact, I think this is the end of his education. He was majoring in education and due to the family financial circumstances, he will not be returning to school.
Please can you give me any information, does he qualify for your program? This would have been his Junior year!
Thank you,
